In south-central Colorado, the Fourteeners Region embodies all that
defines this extraordinary state. Of Colorado's Rocky Mountains
57 peaks taller than 14,000 feet, 15 of these '14ers' are found
in the Sawatch Range lining the upper Arkansas River valley, the
most Fourteeners of any range in all the Rockies.
La Roca de Tiza Bed and Breakfast at 8200 feet is nestled in the
heart of the Sawatch Range, in Chalk Creek Canyon, at the base of
the Chalk Cliffs. To the north the sky is filled with Mt. Princeton
and to the west and south the view up the valley and Mt. Antero
is magnificent! The trailhead to Mt. Princeton is 3 miles away and
Mt. Antero is just a short 8-mile trip. Both mountains have 4-wheel
drive roads to take you close to the summits.
La Roca is a romantic Rocky Mountain home in Colorado with three
lovely rooms. This hidden gem sits on four wooded acres on the bank
of Chalk Creek with a spectacular view of the Cliffs. Due to our
location in the "Banana Belt," we have cool, sunny summer
days and mild sun-drenched winter afternoons. In the evening, cozy
fires and candlelight warm your body and senses.
Visitors to the Colorado Fourteeners Region will find the whitewater
capital of the world, superb fishing, numerous hot springs, cattle
ranches stretching across lush meadows, a 150-mile unique river
park, and mild mountain climate. In addition, no matter what you
choose to do, those spectacular peaks are always on the horizon.
It is indeed providence that makes the 14ers Region such an attractive
place to visit and live. The topography creates opportunities for
so many different outdoor activities that it would take a full year
to enjoy everything.
